Hi all, new to the forums here.

I'm looking to have a 1998 Volvo V70 R Engine rebuilt. This is a 5-cylinder Turbocharged engine. The engine threw its timing belt and needs a new head. While it's apart, I'm looking to have it completely overhauled, including replacing the stock equipment with Wiseco forged rods and pistons (going to put a larger turbo on after the rebuild).

Who do you all recommend to do this work? I know there is not much of a Volvo community here in town, but I figure any decent machine shop should be able to handle this.

Also, what might I expect to pay for this work?

Thanks in advance.

Hey Sean,

Yes, I can remove it myself. Really, I'm looking for whatever is cheaper which I'm guessing would be delivering the engine already removed. I can also install it myself. I'm primarily interested in the rebuild itself. If it was reasonably priced I could have someone install it, but I'm guessing it won't be.

if its a AWD volvo you can bet your ass very few people will be willing to do anything with it. Those cars are a huge pain in the ass to work on. I am still unsure of how they assembled them.

I won't touch the R&I job for less then $2,000

Any competent machine shop should be able to help you on your quest.

What is wrong with the current engine ?
