like you said when the car was imported the probably wrote down miles on the import docs, I import cars all the time they would've converted the km's to miles because they want it to appear correctly on the US title.

I wounder what it would take (legally) to change the speedometer over to MPH?

forgot to add....It wouldn't deter me from buying it. The odometer issue is obviously an error and if you have a body shop check the repair work I'd see no reason not too.

If it was some kind of damage that never should have been fixed. You'd probably be able to tell by looking at it.

I don't know if the odometer on the vette is electronic in that year, if it is when we change over to MPH the miles are stored in the PCM and the computer will display the correct reading in miles. I have done it with a lot of chryslers and fords never a vette tho.

yeah on the C5 cluster where it lights up MPH right next to is is KMH.

There is no swaping necessary, all digital. One button on the side of the cluster says KM/MI or US/MET.

Just take the car to be inspected and if the repairs were done well. there isnt much that'll stop me from buying a repaired car.

I would just use that information to negotiate a more fair price. Not sure where they get the OD info from but I know when I reported to my insurance company mileage (because of the type of policy I had) I wasn't always dead on. I think at one point I forgot what I told them last time and gave them mileage less than what I told them before. They didn't seem to care.
