Long day on the road yesterday

Well, woke up early yesterday and got on the road to chicago at 7 am. Was looking at an 02 harley f150 with 32k on it. Seller described as mint. Long story short, when I got there it was VERY far from mint. It looked more like 60k miles with several dings dents and scuffs. The chrome on the wheels was tarnished as well. Wound up taking a detour on the way back to indianapolis and picked up a different truck with less miles and finally got home at about midnight. It pissed me off since every time I talked to this guy over the phone he said that I would be able to tell how he took care of it so well and what not.

bummer! I know exactly what you mean tho. I went and looked at a couple cars yesterday. One was listed as super clean, etc.... and the paint looked like the owner used sand paper to dry the car after a wash. tons of touch up paint. busted up interior, etc....

I have learned that people definitions of "clean" or "showroom" vary greatly. Typically the people that take care of their DD's usually have spotless toys, but the people who do not even care for their DD's, then sure their toy does seem really clean in comparison.

That's not 100% true, I have a Honda Civic that is my daily commuter (200miles a day) and I don't wash it ever but the interior stays clean, all my other cars not including toys are mint, spotless etc

I have a friend who drove to Missouri to pick up a supposed billy badass drag bike... and the guy couldn't even get it started when he got there.

I thought it looked decent, given they weren't the best pics. None of the dings/dents were visible in the pictures either. He only mentioned a scratch on the rear bumper, which was actually a dent where the paint came off and started to rust.

I hate when people describe stuff as mint. A friend got a car that was told was mint. He saw all the spots that were not mint, but bought it anyways. The spots that were bad weren't realy bad, but he got the guy down a little more anyways.
