i have been debating weather to lock out my dist or just put the lightest springs i can get in it! what do you guys think? i mainly will be drag racing the car but i wil see some street miles on it? and if i lock the bitch out i know sometimes it is a bitch to start/etc and if i put the lightest springs i can get hopefully it will just advance super quick!

so just give me the pros and cons of doing both! your info will be great!

thanks guys

A lot of ignitions these days have a start retard that should ease the starting issue. Specifically, I know the MSD digital (6/7's) do that.

You might want to look into one of those.

Hey...what ignition box are you running?

i have a dig.6!

what i mean by locking it out i think some people are thinking of it different then what i am tryin to say! you can get a msd dist that has no springs/cams/etc you set it at what ever you want the engine set at and that's it! i have alway run a msd part#85551 which most guys run! i am thinking of going to a msd part #85501 which advanced is lock out!

help brother out! lol

I would lock it out. I have mine locked out, 13.5:1 comp. ratio 406, locked out at 36 degrees, msd 6al box tho, got a good starter and battery, so i have no issues, and that advance is right there when u need it!

Ok, with the 6 digital plus you lock the distributor @ 36 degrees and then use the single stage retard to pull 10 or whatever degrees when you hit the key for easy starting.

Should be easy enough.
