Lifter question

Just wanted to get an opinion on a lifter. I was adjusting my rockers and one felt funny. I adjust the nut until I feel a light drag on the push rod and then give the nut a half turn. Then lock it down with a open wrench and allen head T handle. I can usually feel resistence for the 1/2 turn on the lifter but I had one where it turned with no effort.

I didn't notice any ticking before but I have a feeling I should pull the intake to double check.

Any thoughts?

Were you readjusting? Was that lifter on the up when the car sat and bled down? If it's not ticking i wouldn't worry about it, but need more info. Why/what were you doing?

I was just double checking the lash. The motor sat for maybe a week but I've never had a lifter compress so easily. I'm just going to pull the intake and take a look at it.

If it's a hydraulic cam, why were you checking lash? Not being a dick just askng. Was it making noise, was there an issue? What do you expect to see when you pull the intake? In all honesty all you can do is see if the lifter came apart, and you can see that relatively easy through the pushrod hole with a small flash light, and see if the retainer had come out. Other wise, it's not like you're going to see the valve inside the lifter is bleeding off too fast. Honestly, if it's not making noise, there was no concern that made you check it to begine with, just run it. And if you're going to go through the hassle of pulling the intake, just get a lifter to put in there to make it worth your time and gasket money to be in there. A lifter isn't that expensive, you're going to be in there, and a visual inspection of a lifter isn't going to really tell you anything about how the internals are doing. If it's bothering you that much, just replace it.

Sorry sometimes i talk too much!
