im really thinkin about putting an ls motor in my 85 regal,im on a tight budget $1500,just want a stock n/a running ls car for now might boost it later.what are the pros and cons of the 5.3,5.7,6.0,6.2 ? all help is appreciated thanks

6.0 lq4/lq9 shortblock will be the best bang for the buck. With the stock crank being good to approx 1,000 hp, and stock iron block is very strong.

some extra costs might be:
good efi fuel system
motor mounts/plates
wiring harness/Programming

I have a motor and felt like it would take another $1k to get it in and running.

LS ftw

One of the car mags (Hot Rod or Car Craft, can't remember which) stuffed a turbo on a high miles junkyard 4.8 LS motor and made 1000hp with minor bolt ons. (Cam, intake, valvespring, etc.) They tried like hell to find the breaking point and couldn't achieve that goal. With that being said i'd just look at getting whatever fits within your budget and go from there.

im thinkin a bone stock motor with a modded stock harness,200r4 trans that is built. how much should I expect to pay to have the ecm flashed or tuned?and what setting need to be changed to make it run?is there a better system to use this car is just a cruiser and I want to stay efi,im thinkin a gn fuel tank with in tank pump will do the trick for fuel supply?thanks for the input so far

if your gonna use stock rails look into the corvette fuel filter. the filter has the regulator and the return outlet built in
