Some of you may know him but I'm betting a lot of the younger guys on here don't.... but Paul was a legend..... He was way better than "von Dutch" could have ever hoped to be.... lots of stories of him around the Detroit automotive scene in the past 60 years... The man singlehandedly striped the first 515 1968 hurst olds! Chilli Catallo's "little deuce coupe" on the cover of the beach boys album? the scallops are Hatton's All of Connie's Funny cars were painted, Lettered and striped by Paul... HELL! he striped my fathers 1929 Model A in our garage when I was a kid in the late 70's! he would start to pull a line.... stop take a puff of his cigarette and continue the line... you could not tell where he stopped! anyways he deserves recognition. I'll end this with the way he used to sign the cars he stripped.... Hatton "who else?"

May he RIP. Hatton was a legend when I was in high school the late 60's. It seemed like all the "cool cars" had Hatton striping. I was thrilled when he was able to letter and stripe a couple of my racing sleds in the mid 80's. Even after a bad day on the ice I could count on someone recognizing his work and/or signature and compliment it. He will be missed.

Pic of my old helmet with his signature on it.

I remember a few of the old timer stripers/painters I know talking about him. I never met him though.. The little group of guys that have been teaching me is getting smaller, last August Ray passed away, which was a huge loss to me, he taught me so much. And last week another guy passed away. It sucks ass.

RIP
