Laser pulley alignment

Does anyone have a laser pulley alignment tool I can barrow or know of a shop that has one that can check my blower alignment on the quick?

I have an F1-X blower with an 8 rib set up, but I keep snapping the damn belt. I have two red bypass valves and a huge BOV, not sure what else it could be. Just want to make sure the pulleys line up before I order 10 rib pulleys for her.

Is it breaking the belt under load or when you lift the throttle?

Normally when I lift.

Does anyone know if it is better to have a slightly longer or shorter belt? I have an adjustable spring loaded tensioner, so I can run belts +/- an inch or so. I've been using the smallest belt that I can, but maybe a slightly longer belt will let it stretch more?

I ordered a 10 rib pulley and a gates RPM belt, so we'll see what that does. I have been on an 8 rib and normally using the Gates Green belts.

I had the same issue as you on my Foxbody. When I would lift off the throttle the belt would eject itself off of the engine or break. In my case it was the fact that someone previous to me had removed the Procharger designed/supplied belt tensioner and installed their own design.

I would check your tensioner to make sure that its adjusted properly and pretensioned.

I thought alignment was my issue also so a buddy made me up a jig with a dial indicator on it to check the alignment from pulley to pulley. All along it was the tensioner.

There is a place in Indiana that I heard did good work with pulley alignment. They did someones car on here I can't remember whose though - maybe George's? I want to say Dynotech maybe?

Thanks for the advise, the pulleys look straight with a straight edge and the belts don't show side wear, so the tensioner could be a real possible issue.
