Lapeer dragway has a new owner

Then she asked the board a question. She said it took her two months to get permits from the township to install an aboveground swimming pool. “How is it Mr. Jennings has managed to almost rebuild the entire dragway in approximately the same amount of time?”

If a business decides on changes are needed & breaks ground to do those changes, I would expect that business to be able to start & finish such projects as fast as possible. It would only hinder there business the longer a project strings out.

For a homeowner, it will always take longer than expected to complete a project. Homeowner's do not always have the steady cash flow to plow thru unplanned hindrances.

Two in the audience spoke in favor of the dragway upgrades, including Chad Farley. “I live in the area. I moved here to be closer to the track,” and said people shouldn’t have bought places near a dragway that has been in existence since 1968 if they didn’t want to hear racing noise.

Need more Chads to attend those types of meetings.

If noise is a constant issue, should I94, I696, & all other freeways be closed down b/c folks can't sit out on there back patio without hearing motorized vehicles zooming past at a high rate of speed? What about bars & pubs that bring in the loud motorcycles?

At a Wednesday evening of the Mayfield Township Planning Commission more than a half-dozen township residents peppered the board with questions related to the dragway. Bernard Swift commented, “I think somebody has been very negligent. I think the township has been negligent to let it get this far … Can’t you stop him before he can do any more work out there?”

6 fucking people showed up, lol

I've said all along no permits would be required to "repair" existing pavement or fencing.
Its required when you put in new "structures" or expanded operations onto vacant or near by property.
Pavement is not a structure.
Looks like his attorney has got this.

The best thing he could do right now is to start bankrolling his buddies to get elected to whatever board is harassing him. Literally, to run for office up there you need a few hundred signatures and a couple thousand dollars for yard signs. Most of those jobs in townships like that are a fucking good old boys club and if they think you are going to shut them down they will back off.

6 isn't bad, especially for a small community like Lapeer. For most developments, no one shows up. I've also been to Planning Commission meetings where it's standing room only from a couple hundred people wanting to voice their complaints.

I’d like to go watch John Quick or Raj run this event. That would be great to see the local legends show them how it’s done.
