Aug. 4—A Lamborghini worth more than $200,000 flew from the front of a trailer in a crash on the Pennsylvania Turnpike, state police said.
The crash happened close to 6 p.m. July 24 at milemarker 76.4 in Hempfield, state police said in a release issued Tuesday.
According to state police, Paul B. Eddington, 34, of New Stanton was driving a Chevrolet Silverado east on the turnpike, towing a 28-foot enclosed trailer.
A 2021 Lamborghini Huracan was inside the trailer. According to Car and Driver, the supercar's pricing starts at almost $215,000.
State police said the trailer had been improperly loaded. When Eddington got up to speed and tried to negotiate a left curve, the trailer started swerving back and forth, causing him to lose control.
Eddington went from the right lane into the left lane, then back over the right lane and hit the guide rail. The Silverado rolled over two and a half times, causing the Lamborghini to travel through the front of the trailer and land on the ground next to the truck and trailer.
The Silverado landed on its passenger side.
Eddington suffered a suspected minor injury, state police said. He was not charged.
State police did not say how badly the Lamborghini was damaged in the crash.
