I bought an 1980 el camino.... with a giant list of lies from the previous owner blah blah we have all done it. The car is originally a v6 4 speed car converted to a 4.4 with a th350 after a bunch of cash the motor runs great. The problem I am having is i can not find a suitable tv cable the one it came with was broken. I have bought 5 and all of the ends of the cables opening are different like there are multiple size orifices in the trans case I Frankensteined 3 of the together but the cable gets stuck in the sheath. I also for get to mention i have a holley 4160 carb not the 210 jet 2barrel. maybe i am leaving out some necessary information if you see it please ask. I dont know what the trans is out of is there a way to tell?

Are you sure it's not a 200 Metric and that's why the TH350 cables aren't fitting? I can't even verify there is a difference between the two but I do know that GM liked to stick those 200's in those 80s cars, and they looked similar to the th350. May be something to look into???

It has 13 bots in the pan and 3 forward gears. I thought the 200s had 16 pan bolts and 4 forward gears?

There are a couple different styles but the end that inserts into the case above the pan should all be the same. I can't remember if that feature on the 200 is different than the 350 as TooSlo mentioned. The pans look almost exactly the same. Both are squareish with one corner cut off. the 200 is smaller though. It has 11 bolts, the 350 has 13. Both are 3-speed transmissions. You might want to check out this place. They are a transmission part supplier. They have everything and might be able to help you match something up.
