Kegerator brands

So I decided to get a kegerator to help my progression into a full blown alcoholic. I have narrowed it down to 2, one by Haier and one by Danby.

Cost difference is $50, and I have had good luck with haier products, but never tried anything by Danby.

Anyone have an opinion to share? :dontknow:

well i have called around and there is a place in shelby township where you can by parts..
it would cost $225 to build one that is the poratable cooler model and then just rent the co2 tank..
i dont want to spend that much..
i just need to rent one for a weekend in october..
i am not much of a keg beer drinker.. i just need it for a party..

Parts=1/2 the cost of the real thing. Not worth it IMO.:bs: Get a keg for your party, a garbage can, and a dozen bags of ice. :D

that is what the plan is for now...
i just HATE those damn hand pumps...
 
My fraternity back in college had a cool homemade one. It had the CO2 going to the keg, but out of the keg it had some metal tubing (don't know what kind - copper maybe) that ran into a cooler filled with ice with a tap on the front. The tubing was wrapped all around inside the cooler, so the beer basically hit close to 34 degrees. A good thermodynamics student could probably solve for how much tubing you need to get it down to 32 degrees. Plus, no electricity, so you can keep it outside in the sun as long as you have ice in the cooler.

that is the one i am talking about. they have a kit for it but the expensive part is the keg connections..
50ft of coil tubing is what the kit comes with..

Since beer contains alcohol and other things as solutes, I would expect that the eutectic point is changed so actually it should freeze at a lower temp than 32. (Think of vodka, which can be kept in the freezer....) I'd say it'll freeze between 28-30 degrees. Just a guess though.
 
lol i refuse to figure out what temperature it would freeze at even though it's going to drive me nuts lol (off to google i go!!)
