k member help

I just installed a QA1 tubular kmember in my car and when I went to put the steering shaft on I'm about 1" too short. I'm a little discourage because I have the wheels squared in the wheel wells and the car is square. Also the kmember is pushed as far back as possible with out notching the frame. Anyone else have this problem?

Model year variations. Sounds like the steering Shaft is to short for your particular model year coloumn combo. Not a big deal. I have a fairly long peice of steering shaft here if you need it $5 and its yours !!

Thanks Sean. I'm not sure how I would extend it yet or if I feel comfortable cut and welding something that steers the car.

Snap a picture of the issue for me. Should just be able to pull out the D shaft from the universal joint and cut a longer piece.

We just put one in my fathers car & he had the same situation.
The peice with the hole where the bolt connects the column to the shaft can be pulled out, its an interference fit. (It makes the Column collapsible in case of an accident so you dont end up impaled)

He put a bolt through it & just pulled it out some with a small slide hammer & everything fit perfect. If you have the destructions I belive it says something about it there.

Awesome. I'll give that a try tonight.

Sean, If it's still an issue I'll take a pic.
thanks

some applications can lengthen and or widen your wheel base up to an inch, i know for a fact granetelli is famous for this but never had a problem with qa1 or upr?

the peice that the sterring shaft goes into pulls out of the car, went through this last year with my manual rack.
