Next up, tear it open and fix it ;)

Yes, I'm getting brave...Oh yeah that and it's the Hydro staic unit for my mower :) Wish me luck.. Maybe one day soon I'll try swapping out the Fiero's 4T60E for a 4T40 so I can change Ecm's and Tubo my bitch....

if ya ever want to build a supercharged push mower, let me know. i've done it, its semi involved, but well worth the 65 bucks in parts it takes to do it.

Can I ask why other than seeing if it can be done?

that was the reason, just to see if it would be done. i never got it to mow grass, cause i blew it up with nitrous (no joke) it was just a project to work on while at work when we didnt have anything going on. it would have mowed grass, but would have been too dangerous to try for even me. sounded so cool though was truely one of the funniest things i've ever built.

thats how i did it, ford LTD smog pump with a sbc alt pully spinning the smog pump, with a sbc water pump pully welded onto the crank. wide open with out a rev limiter, the thing sounded SCARY like something was really about to break. it would idle like a harley davidson cause at idle it would get some boost and i maxed the inrichment screws so it would run. ran good for a long time, but ended up breaking the rod/ piston when i put the end of a nitrous line into the inlet of the smog pump, and added nos octane booster for *safety* and ran it wide open, and cracked the bottle and it gained rpm, left the bottle cracked for about 5 seconds and it went boom

Well It appears I saved $600-$650, drained it, split the case and sure enough the pin that goes thru to actuate the pump was out and laying in the pan. Fiddled with it for an hour and got it in. Used Permatex gasket maker (since this is a sealed unservicale unit).

Now all thats left is to fill it, rinstall into mower and see if it works. Honestly I don't foresee any reason it shouldn't everything looked good.

doing it your self and saving that kind of coin is badass.

I agree... Local john Deere shopis $75 an hour and even if they did open the case, which they won't becuase john Deere says it's unserviable. It would still have been 4 hours for them. So if I could have talked them into doing it, I figure $300 ordering a new transaxle would have been $590 + Shipping. so eitehr way as long as it's working I saved major coin...

Not to mention I feel like I don't have to be afraid to try and do stuff my self (mecahnical wise)
