Jeep Cherokee 9spd trans problems

My gf has a 2015 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk with the 9 speed auto trans, and long story short, it absolutely blows. Delayed then violently hard shifts, quick starts from a stop rarely happen and can put you in a dangerous spot, etc. It often feels like the trans is slipping. Dealer applied several software updates which they claimed made it a 1000 times better (their words) but it's actually worse.

Any Chrysler guys know anything about this? She owns the vehicle and is very concerned because it's obnoxious to drive and we're worried about the longevity of the trans. It's a great vehicle otherwise and she bought it planning to keep it 10 years. Is there anything we can do to light a fire under their ass, or any sort of lemon law action she can take? Vehicle has 34k miles on it now and has been doing it basically since new but has been getting worse over time.

a lady at work had the same issue. 1st time it happen was with 500 miles on it. FCA bought the car back from her under the lemeon law. the dealer would tell her it was caused by everything else but the trans even said it was the HVAC unit at 1 time. But i work as a supplier and we were aware of the issue already. If you recall when they first we selling this jeeps they we news feeds all over saying there was 900000 jeeps made and not one on a dealer lot. This was because they had them all on contaiment hold to try and fix the issue. It was a issue befor they even sold the first jeep.

Sorry to hear it. I don't know what the answer is but I've driven many of those transmissions and hate them. I will never buy one unless they sort it out. The eight speed in the rear drive platforms however is glorious.

Best of luck I hope it gets resolved to your satisfaction.

Ah, ok. I take it there's little hope for Chrysler themselves to resolve this?

It's a truck to me... Should I call it a wagon?

Why do I have to be a moron?

I actually didn't think you would get that's fired up... Apparently I have picked up a trick or 2 from BODUKE

raw

I'd contact dline ... He will prove this isn't a common problem and this is an outstanding truck.

This is the correct answer. If you would kindly ignore all other posts on this forum related to Chrysler trans issues, you will realize that you are the only one having this issue and it is clearly your fault.

Birdie.

What you need to do is keep an accurate (with dealer invoices as backup) log of the dates and times that you have taken the vehicle in for service. Keep track of the number of days you have been without it. Keep track of phone calls. Ask for everything in writing. You're well on your way to a buyback.

Do you know what updates they installed? Flash label underhood? The pcm and tcm have to be updated at the same time

No idea what they flashed, said there was like 7 software updates but they gave her the runaround a little and the invoice says they didn't find any issue??? She was in a hurry to get to work when she picked it up so she couldn't grill them, and believe me she would. Not too familiar with lemon law stuff, is buyback still an option with 34,000 miles on the odometer?

Larry, what is this flash label you're describing? I'll give it a look tomorrow.

If the engine was flashed there should be a silver decal with the hand written part number. At least I believe they should still be using them

My wife has a 15 Renegade with the same transmission we're having a ton of problems with it kept taking it back to the dealership over and over. The last time we were there they had the jeep for a week and they did a whole ton of software upgrades. The dealership was szott in White Lake. Since then the vehicle drives like the new vehicle. It has get up and go. It stays in the gear a little bit longer. On the highway, it doesnt have to downshift 5 gears to get going.it drives How It Should Have from the factory. So the transmission issue is resolved.
However because we bought the renegade the first week it was released that has all types of electrical problems. A friend of mine is a lemon lawyer and he contacted and filed a claim with Chrysler. We heard back this week that Chrysler offered us $5,000. Chrysler will pay us 5 Grand plus the attorney fees on top of it. The only way you get Chrysler to buy back the vehicle is to follow through with a lawsuit. At this point it gets expensive. Chrysler hires Miller Canfield Law Firm to defend them in Lemon Law cases. They drag out the cases out for close to two years. We are considering taking the five grand and just selling the Renegade. The good thing is that the Lemon Law claim does not appear on a Carfax. So we are probably going to trade it in at the dealership within the next month or so.
