for the past month or so my internet sucks , slow , connectivity issues and lately ive ben getting a "waiting for website to reply " every website not just 1 or 2

ive got wow for cable and internet and I pay for there highest internet , I can get speeds of 3.5 and sometimes even 4 , lately im lucky to see 1.5

I have wow's modem ( witch they say theres nothing wrong with ) and im running that threw my netgear wireless router , my desktop is hard wired and everything else is wifi , xbox , phones , laptop and what not , everything is having issues thow , xbox wont stay connected to wifi long enuff to watch a net flix movie and so on

im not to tech inclined but I know a little , ive tried new cables , viewed my router activity to make sure no one was tapped into it ( password protected ) , thought maybe some how there was something wrong with my desktop causing the issues and I cleaned that out and ran every virus scan I had and nothing came up

im realy leaning to the modem being the issue but wow says other wise , any other ideas guys ?

First thing to do is plug directly into the modem and test from there....your router/wireless could be fucked..

When ever my stuff slows down, I unplug my modem and wireless for 30 seconds and seems to pick back up

Could be a router firmware issue. Many factory router firmwares are unstable, and will have issues with buffering and memory management. I've owned a few routers that required a hard reset in order to fix bandwidth issues. These days, I only buy routers that work with the OpenWRT firmware, rock solid and more configuration options than you can shake a stick at. The only down time I've seen in the past 5 or 6 years have been strictly from power outages.

I haven't messed with any setting or anything , ive tried every possible thing I can think of , resets , turned off power to modem and router and a few other things

just noticed that when it starts acting up my modem ware it says data ( send and receive ) , the send or receive lights are out and now the receive light is on

im going to take the modem to wow tomorrow and demand a new one , because even when I take my router out of the picture and hook up my desktop direct to the modem I still have issues

modem is a webstar , router is a wifi netgear

ugh. yea ask if you can get a moto 6121. I have wow and that's what I've got. Actually when I upgraded to their 30MB service I picked one of these up myself since it's docsis 3.0 which is required for the faster services above 15Mb. Save money on renting as well

Swapping the modem yourself isn't going to help if you have line issues. I would tell them to come out and fix it, and have your desktop hardwired to the modem when they visit to test.

I had there 6121 and it wasn't allowing my xbox to connect to it threw my router , that's when I got stuck with the webstar

nope sorry it wasn't the 6121 , it was deffinatly a moto thow , ill ask if they will let me switch when I turn in this modem

You rent it right?

Just call them and tell them it reboots on its own and that it flaky....they need to come out and replace it. Do you have a phone line too?

yes I rent it , no phone line

I get same results if its plugged if directly to my modem or router , slow speeds and a waiting for website to respond .... the waiting for website to respond is the biggest PITA , usualy I can restart the page and it will kick on but sometimes I actually have to close out the browser and re-open it

is it one device giving you issues? you say you have a desktop, laptop, etc....

do they all behave the same?

laptop , tablets , phones and xbox all have connectivity issues , I don't get the messages on any of them just poor connection and speeds , xbox doesn't stay connected long enuff to watch a Netflix movie

Wonder if cable line outside is cut somewhere? happened to me last year. Contractors working next door were working in yard and spliced my line. Wow came out and dropped a new line
