What do you guys do? Cometic says install them dry but some say coat them. Whats gonna seal up best for me? I dont want to have to spend another $200 on head gaskets

I was just researching the same thing. I ended up doing mine dry based off cometics recommendation and a few threads on the bullet.

depends...fresh mill on the heads and block? then yes dry id say, but if the block or heads is not a fresh mill, copper spray. if the gasket is used, then spray for sure no matter what.

maybe even a very super light coat even if the block and heads were just milled, just to make you feel better. lol

It doesn't matter. I've done both with and without, Felpro and Cometic.

They all sealed fine.

FYI Felpro come with the sticky coating, cometic doesn't.

I'd prefer to install dry. Block nor heads have a fresh surface. There was copper on the last set before I owned the motor. I know they say you need the proper RA on the surfaces

cometic's

step 1 coat with spray copper (some guys even pull the rivets and spray in between the layers, don't get carried away with the spray copper)
step 2 install with your new ARP hardware torquing to spec and sequence
step 3 heat cycle
step 4 re torque fasteners post heat cycle (that means wait till it's back to room temp post the thermostat cycling)
step 5 use appropriate Moroso ceramic sealer(one pn# for water and one pn# for coolant) follow instructions on bottle

This is the only way to keep a set from weeping coolant/water on every engine family.
