In search of foxbody advice

I'm not a car guy, and I'll never claim to be. I love foxbody mustangs, but have no clue what is what. Basically, I just picked up an '88 LX vert 5.0 5 speed. Currently it has BBK Shorty Headers, no cats, flows, the usual, and msd6al ignition. Just curious if anyone had some ideas of what I should do to it. I'd like to be able to demolish my friends ls1 ws6(intake/exhaust/the usual) without nos, and keep the car at a "daily driver" type level. Thanks in advance, and if you need any computer help, feel free to hit me up :D

If you wanna beat a bolt on LS1 car.....I would think SUpercharger would be your best...only reasonalbe option......If your able to I would complement it with a nice head/cam/intake package......

Yeah A Fox with heads, mild cam, intake, and a blower....VERY driveable...Very fun.....should be able to drag most street cars you will run into......plus it sounds cool!! Just all around a good fun ride.

Why not Nitrous? I had a burgandy 91 LX Vert, TFS heads cobra intake, E303 cam, AOD car with a converter and 4.10 gear. Ran a 150hp dry kit on it. It was my daily driver and I sprayed the shit out of it. It ran 12.80's on motor with the converter setup for Nitrous and my best nitrous pass was 11.90@128 with a 1.97 60ft. Stock suspension and pretty much a full weight car.

Just have to keep up on plug changes ect. I changed the plugs everytime I refilled the Bottle. I also had Lidio at Alternative Performance Tune the nitrous on it for me.

With that car being an 88 your going to have to convert it to mass air if you want to modify it heavily.

I think it's cheaper to find all the parts then to buy one of those conversion kits. Ebay is a pretty good place to look for the wiring harness. I'm sure someone on motown probably has one laying around as well as the EEc you'd need.

To be honest, nitrous scares me. I had it on my bike, and after a few close calls, I swore to myself never again. Itd be something to consider tho, idk.

How fast you want to go all depends on how much money you want to spend. Do you want to stay fuel Injected ? Is this a daily driver or a hobbie car ? There are alot of package deals on parts that will work great on your car. So how much money do you want to spend ?

I'd like to keep it around 5k or less. It'll be a "nice day - daily driver". Was reading up a bit on the speed density, and it doesnt seem too bad to convert it to MAF. The only problem right now, is I'm not sure I'm liking the convertible. I may decide to sell this one, and get a hatchback. /shrug

Yea thats why I got rid of mine once I started to make it faster I never put the top down. 5k you should be able to make the car reasonably fast. Honestly easiest way would be to sell the one you have now and buy one already built ;) Saves you a ton of money.

That's probably the way I'll go. I might drive it for a little longer while I look. Should be easy to sell for a small profit, got it dirt cheap from a friend of a friend that needed $

Thanks for all the posts so far, been +repping whenever I can

The MAF conversion Is really simple...Processor...2 plug engine harness...And the MAF meter and ducting. Installs In a couple of hours. TFS sells a nice Intake-heads kit. that Is a good start.

4.30 gear, TFS FAC 170's, Jay Allen Camshaft, TFS Track Intake, good tires and a driver mod.

oh and long tubes
