Call Tom at Lakeview Window. He's based out of Grosse Pointe. Tell him Bob from the credit union referred you. 313-319-2804

Whatever you do *** Don't *** call Hanson's!!!

Funny how Hanson's some how gets a "A+" rating
from the BBB. Just look at the customers numbers,
it doesn't add up.

Everyone I know (including me) regrets ever contacting
1-800-Hansons.

You've been warned.

After having a bunch of Window companies over, I ended up doing them myself. It is about $800 to get a custom built Anderson dual pane argon filled painted wood window from Home Depot (with the 15% off they do two or three times per year). If you call someone, they will want at least $1000 per window for some cheap ass plastic or fiber. I had Anderson Renewal (they do not install the same windows you get from Home Depot), Pella, and a local guy quote mine originally. For the money, the Anderson Renewal looked like crap. They had some crazy flexible plastic track that you just pop the window into and out of, and their plastic was a blend of fibers and sawdust. It looked super cheap, and they wanted $1500 per window. Pella was similar in price but the windows were slightly better (still plastic or fiberglass). Nobody would quote me wood. Maybe a local guy would?

That being said, if you want cheap ass plastic windows, I have had good luck with Wallside - they did my bachelor pad in Pontiac 15 years ago (it was about $600 per window then). I think they are the cheapest you can get, but the windows are cheaply made too. I had Hansons, Wallside, and Weatherguard quote that job. Hansons was super expensive and only single hung, the other two were double hung. Weatherguard looked good, but Wallside was cheaper. If I had planned on keeping the house I probably would have picked Weatherguard.

Good luck and let us know what you decide.

I used this Steve's guy for gutters on the garage - 586-778-3393. I think he charged me about $300 for two 40 foot one piece gutters with two downspouts. I would call him again in a heartbeat.

That's a great price. One of my members got suckered by one of the businesses advertising at Arts Beats and Eats, dude quoted him $10k for gutters on a 1000sq ft ranch, then "I'll give you the friends and family discount, $5000". I asked if he called around to get other bids, nope.

10k for gutters!? What are they made out of copper?
My dad got one of those seamless gutter guys to do his 1700 sqrft house for $1000 cash under the table deals... I gotta look that guy up btw...
Wallside windows suck... had them in my rental and they're drafty as fuck and when you call for warranty they send some ghetto fuck to put tape in the windows.
Hanson wouldn't send an estimator unless the wife was home too.. owner called me (cause I put up such a fuss) and told him I make the major purchasing decisions on the house, not the wife...he said it's an easier sale with the wife there....so he got a big fuck you from me.

Had the Wallsides torn out and put the Northstar windows in.. seals real tight, no outside noise or drafts!
I actually wanna put them in my current home if I can find a contractor to do them

I used Shelby Seamless Gutters and am very disappointed. Used them for trim, gutters and siding. Also to install a entry door that I had to fully rip out of my house and put back in myself. It was so out of square the dead bolt would never line up with the hole in the casing. You could look at the top of the door and see about 1/8 gap at top on hinge side and about 3/8 gap on top at handle side when the door was closed. The guy stopped answering my calls and texts. I know where he lives, but I feel that will only end horrible with cops.
