ok I just picked up an 87 foxbody 5.0 HO but It idles at like 1100-1200 rpm's also it idles up and down slightly no much at all what could be the problem?

Could be to much base throttle opening. Also could be a sticking throttle body and last on the list is a fialed IAV.

Just becuase the car died when you unplugged it does not mean everything is ok with it. I would clean the throttle plate with carb cleaner and a rag, make sure the adjustment on it is correct, possibly remove the IAC and clean it and the mounting holes it goes on... and like SEAN said check your base timing. If this is an EFI motor you will have to unplug the SPOUT connector to check your base ignition timing.

I have done all that I cant get the idle to go down. I really dont know what else I can check or do to get the idle down.

see if the ECU has a chip in it. Could be programmed with a higher idle speed. Is the check engine light on ?

no the check engine light is not on also I am not sure if the idle is set that high becuase it has a e303 cam I never had to set my idle high like that with any other cam that I have had. thats why I am not sure why it is like that also it will idle up and down slightly. not sure about that either
