I'm an adult. OK...I dont act like one...but I look like one....kind of. Well..actually I just look like a big kid..but I am an adult none the less.

So why do I have a boring ass bedroom? I dont consider myself a boring guy. When it comes to ideas, I'm usually goofy and over the top about them. When I was growing up, I always wanted a awesome bedroom. I use to think to myself, "my parents are so boring. Their bedroom looks so bland."

Well...look at me now. Congratulations. My bedroom is even more bland then my parents. I always said to myself "I'm going to make this room sweet", but never have in the past because I guess its just doing its job and is "good enough for sleeping in."

NO MORE! I want something cool. Budget minded of course. My room currently has a Bed (duh), a nightstand on each side, a dresser with TV on top, a couch and a coffee table. The room is about 30x16. So its pretty big.

Does anyone have any cool ideas that dont cost a lot of money? My creative juice is tapped out. I'm kind of thinking of going night clubish with it. Add a bar (I'll build one myself), some cool lighting, maybe a disco ball. IDK. I really liked the dorm room in that movie "Accepted" if anyone has seen that.

I guess I'm just trying to stir up ideas. Hanging cool pictures on the walls and painting the room different colors only go so far. I want a cool spot to kick it. Any ideas? Maybe some cool things you guys/gals always wanted to do but just didnt because of whatever reason? I know someone on here has an awesome idea waiting to be heard. I'm open to any ideas that dont involve costing a fortune. I'm the kind of guy who wants a fire pole to get from the bedroom to an indoor swimming pool that is under the see through dance floor downstairs.

BTW...my girlfriend said "NO" to putting in a fire pole. Also a big "NO" to tearing up the cement in the basement and putting in a swimming pool with a trap door that lets you do cannon balls from the kitchen table down to the pool. (these were actual ideas that I had planned on doing) So no serious modifications to the house. Thats a bummer I guess. Other than that, what do ya got????

i always though about building a bed frame out of 1 1/2 dom tubing tig welded together and clear coat the bare steel. put as much race car roll cage feel in to it as i could...
but that's my idea and you cant have it!:gfight:

I think the disco ball and bar idea is a bad one, IMO.
Maybe add some sconces on the wall above and to the side of the bed?

I just tore up carpet in two of mine and exposed the hardwood. I also painted some very modern colors and bought new floor lamps. All my family and friends loved them over the holidays. I also put up new baseboard moldings. That was the most expensive part. About 110 bucks per room in moldings alone. Other than that...paint was 23 per gallon. 1 gallon for each room (2 coats each room) Tearing up carpet and padding and staples = FREE!

Mirrors........a lot of them.........big ones............and one on the ceiling! :naughty1:

ive always been a big fan of carmen electras spare room

its completely white. White walls, white cieling, white carpet, with a white bed suspended from the cieling, with chains, but the bed is covered in blood and looks like someone was murdered in it

I looked at a house that had a big whirlpool / spa type tub by itself in the corner of the master bedroom. It had a big tile step around it, and a couple of pillars, and windows on both sides of it. Thought that was kick ass.

Since Al hasn't done it yet, I will.....

"Seriously, an interior decorating thread, on Motown Muscle!?"

Take the front end of your car Oor duplicate from junk yard, etc), shine it up and have it jutting out of your wall, using the headlights as reading lamps. paint a city scene behind it, make it look like it's driving through your room...make sense?? Thought about doing that for my sons room at one point

ninja weapons on the wall.
Yes. that could be the headquarters for our 80's super diverse gang

This sounds like a good idea.

We are painting my kids room like outerspace!
This is for sure awesome. I always wanted to put a false ceiling in and paint it black with a ton of tiny fiber optic lights shining through to give it a starry sky look.

Thought about this, but I'm afraid of it springing a leak and f-ing the house up

It depends on your lifestyle and what your into. They have a lot of cool shit you can do. Put a flush inwall small aquarium with nice lightning. They have in wall I-Pod docks and speakers if your a I-Phone guy. Put a two way mirror glass window into your door. Just google a few "modern" interior decorating websites and youll get plenty ideas. It depends on how much you want to spend.

You could go pick up a lot of cement and build a panic room, that'd be pretty wild.

If you want a lounging space, I say find a good deal on a flatscreen, check out IKEA for a cheap couch or chairs and set up a lounge area in the room. Paint, pictures, and lighting go a long way in a room too. Crown molding with some rope lighting for some 'romantic' lighting is sweet if your house would look OK with crown molding. We did that trick in my buddies basement bar for the shelves that stored the bottles and glasses. It was sweet!
