I wonder about doctors sometimes

Does it ever seem to anybody that doctors have things done to you that maybe arent all that neccessary. Two weeks i was playin in a tournament and a kid got pissed and turned around and squared me in the nose, if fractured it in 4 spots and moved the cartilage around a little bit. i played the rest of the season on it before i went to the doctor. now i wasnt having any problems breathin but they said that they needed to rebreak my nose. now what the hell is the point of that if i feel fine?? Its done now and now it feels like someone is squeezin my nose all the time. Sorry guess i just wanted to vent cuz my freakin nose is killin me

They probably had to rebreak it so they could set it for it to heal correctly.

Defensive medicine is a something a little difference.

FWIW, I've refused various tests, probes, and follow-ups a few times over the years as I felt they served absolutely no purpose other than bilking my insurance company.

Like the time my allergist wanted to stick a tube in my nose for $100 to see if I was conjested. Give me a break.

I mean i played 8 games with my nose the way it was with no problems. i only went in becuz i noticed that the end of it may have been just a little crooked. now i gotta walk around with a thing over my nose so i dont get busted again by somebody bumpin it.

if he didn't rebreak it and set it then you'd have a crooked nose for life...unless you didn't mind it. My friend has a fucked up nose after breaking it a couple times from wrestling in high school and not having it reset. He's gonna get it rebroken and set back in place even though there's no complications with it the way it is. Just more cosmetic. He's military so it's free though.

If you didn't have any problems and were fine with it then why go to the doctors?:dontknow:

The re break it so that it looks straight otherwise there is no reason at all it can be crooked & still work fine.

My guess is sometime they do extra stuff to cover thier ass, if the miss something someone might sue them. It's cheaper to do a couple extra test than fight a law suit, otherwise the ins. companies won't pay for the tests

Still have not had my deviated septum fixed, and the cartilage is in the left side of my nose.
On the same note/accident, I messed my ankle up real bad. Didn't break it, but close. They told me I would have been better off to break it, that it would heal better. I told them to do it, and they would not, I was so pissed. To this day, it hurts, and I can hardly walk on it sometimes. :bs:
Think they just wanted my insurance to pay for surgery or something.
