Yesterday me and my dad went to a huge reinactment/war museum on the west side of the state. Woke up at 5am to make it in time for the first reinactment for today, but the events and festivities were going on all week and weekend.

I have a trillion pictures so bear with me if your net's slow.

Pretty much the pictures are in order by event.
-Tarawa Reinactment
-D-day Reinactment
-Visiting the troops and their camps

I guess in the real battle, the soldiers were dropped off 500 yards away from the beach due to a mis calculation in the tide. Fucking insane they even reached the beach.

Just watched the Battlefield episode on the Normandy landing. Battlefield made it sound easier than it really was. Of course, the US took the most heavily fortified beach, Omaha, and the beach with swamps behind it, Utah.

Those men were true American heroes. When you hear the numbers that died on D-Day it is just staggering to think about.

Where was this at? One picture kind of looked like the Grand Haven area. I wish I would have known about it in advance, that would have been impressive to go watch! Great pictures!

Way cool!!! Was that plane a wildcat or a hellcat?

F4F wild cat. It was sweet, they had them with SBD dauntlesses flying over - providing "cover fire" - when they did the Tarawa beach reinactment.

This was held at St Joe (Benton Harbor) this last saturday - I took my dad out for fathersday and saying we had a blast wouldn't do this trip justice.
