I have a 98 f-150 with a 4.2L v6 engine that is hydo-locked. Do i need to rebuild the whole thing or is it possible to fix it in the truck? Any input would be greatly appreciated!

if you just sunk it in a big puddle then take out all the plugs and turn it over a few times... that should empty the cylinders... if that works check the oil to make sure no water got in... i went wheeling with a bunch of friends and had a truck suck up a ton of water and thats what we did and it worked just fine... the truck ran the same as before with no trouble

The intake gaskets fail and hydro lock either one of the front cylinders. Most of the time the connecting rod is bent.

We use to have these come in the shop about once or twice a month havent seen as many most of them probally been fixed.

There is a bulliten on this problem

Pulled out the plugs on the drivers side today.....second one the Ground electrode was bent over and ice was built up in the plug. The other 2 looked ok.
