Hydro boost brakes?

anyone ever done a hydro boost brake conversion?

I guess a bunch of the lightning guys are taking the hydro booster from F250-350, and putting them on the lightnings. It uses the power steering pump (I think) to provide the pressure. Everyone that has done it loves it. It cost about $450.00. And since my new cams will leave no vacuum for the brakes, and I'm not crazy about a vacuum pump idea, I'm considering going this route.

Anyone drive a f250-350 with these brakes stock? how do they work? your opinions?

Have them on my 7.3 with no problems. Stops great. Sounds like a great idea for a truck/car with low vacuum due to a big cam. Are they just changing the master cylinder with new ps hoses?

Yes it uses PS pressure to operate it. Really doesn't cost you any horsepower because the only time you use it is for braking. I can't help you much with the ford part of it. But I converted my 3rd gen firebird with other GM parts, and love it. On mine, I used a KRC pump to save weight and they make some great lightweight pulley setups. www.krcpower.com

450???? junk yard booster 5.4 superduty lines and pump from reiko, Ive converted a few syclones and typhoons, the holding power of the brakes is silly

Did anyone put a double diaphragm booster that fits in the same space plus a reservoir? GM had nice powerboost diaphragms that fit most everything else on the B-body and you can usually pick up reservoirs for cheap that you can mount anywhere.

I've done hydroboost conversions but on a Ford it's usually not worth it unless you swap the pump also, preferably with a Saginaw. IE: it doesn't put out enough pressure at a sufficient volume to run both power steering and brakes so it fades while you're turning at the bottom of a descending expressway ramp for example.

Most of my experience is with big dumb mud trucks with lots of gear reduction and motors that make gobs of torque at idle.
