hydraulic roller lifters

I had a set of hydraulic roller lifter donated to me, (thank you brian!), but I have a small problem. One pair of the lifters are not assembled, I need to compress the lifter plunger and get the snap rings in. Anyone have any bright ideas as to how to do this?

The assembled lifters are super super tough to get the plunger to move, so I cant imagine the un-assembled ones will eb easy to assemble.

If nothing else does anyone have one pair of retro-fit gen-1 SB hydraulic roller lifters they'd like to sell?

2 sockets in a vise one small to fit inside on the plunger one on the outside slipped over the body to catch the part the rides in the lifter bore. Done carefully you won't fock it up but than again it's the HEMICHALLENGED :icon_mrgr
