How to clean rust off driveshaft part that goes into trans.

whatever the hell it's called.

I picked up a ford racing 4" aluminum driveshaft. The part that goes into the trans (outer smooth part) has a lot of rust on it. I know I cannot sand it off as it will scratch the metal and not seal. What, if anything, can i use? Any solvent that will take it off, and then maybe use a green scrubby or something?

I could swap it out with mine, but it is all pressed together and I would prefer not to go through that hassle, plus I don't have a press.

It's a yoke and you can do it by hand with green scotch brite.

If you have access to a lathe then I would stick the yoke in the chuck and use micropolish or scotch brite by hand while it spins.

Try immersing it in C.L.R.® for a day+. If that's not viable, use pb blaster. Constantly dowsing it with PB blaster, use emery cloth to agitate the rust away.
