how should I build the 355 in my 67 camaro?

A mysterious figure named Darko
I pulled the motor out of my 67 camaro because the guy I bought it from claimed it was rebuilt with 3,000 miles...but he was a retard and it had low oil pressure and I pulled to find out all the bearings were just completely wiped out. I decided to rebuild it and I have a few choices of which direction I can go. Here are the parts I have so far

1. dipped 2 bolt 350 block bored .030 over

2. cast crank cut .020

3. the stock rods

4. Forged TRW L2256 pistons 9.72 comp with a 64cc head

5. Iron 302 camelback heads 2.02/1.6 valve...I guess these are good stock heads.

6. comp cams XE274H hyd flat camshaft
230/236 dur @.50 .490 lift 110lsa

7. weiand stealth intake

8. speed demon 650 cfm vac secondary carb...also have a speed demon 750 double pumper

9. mallory unilite dist

Here is how the rest of the car is setup.

1. trans has a 2800 stall TH350 with shift kit

2. 10bolt rear with a posi and 3.55 gear (have a 1k receipt from a shop from the PO)

I have a NOS cheater nitrous system in my garage, and I also found a deal on a very complete 671 blower for $2k. I want to make the car fast, but am unsure of what route I should take. I am unsure of what to do and would love if someone could point me in the right direction here or give me some reccomendations.

It might need 3.42's though.

Tear it out and put a modular ford in it ;)

Honestly, no idea...but post progress as it goes...any pics of the car?

You've got to decide what you want to do with the car. The rest follows from
there. Do you want it to be a daily driver type? Pump gas? Do you care about
mileage? Also, do yourself a favor and upgrade the brakes and suspension to
handle the planned usage first.

Well if I may...take the stock crank and get another. Stock cranks are a dime a dozen and you could have an Eagle cast piece for $300 or so. The machining is tighter and you'll be able to use standard size bearings. Same goes for rods you can get a set of used H-Beams or new SIR Eagle I-beam rods on the cheap. If you do get used rods, be sure to have them re-conditioned.

x2

Define how you want the car to be fast? 10's in the 1320 or just enough to suprise a few people on the street.

Looks like you have potential for a nice and strong little motor for a reliable weekend cruiser using the parts you listed. It'll have a good idle, and you'll know it has a cam, but you won't have to worry about not having vacuum to power your brakes.

I have a Comp cams the step down from the one you have there, and my only complaint is I used 76cc heads on the 355 (no worries when someone doesn't put premium in it though). Port your camelbacks a touch and enjoy!

sound good for a healthy street engine

i would recomend a lunati voodoo cams they were desinged to out power the xe cams and have better drivabilty

should be good for low 13's

The motor may have been recently rebuilt, but with the way the tunnel ram and dual carbs were set up its possible you just had a lot of comtaminant's in your oil that washed away the bearings/rings.

X2 I was thinking the same....too much fuel.
Go with a 4 bolt main if you going to force N02 down it's throat.
New crank (or remand), rods, and pistons (flat top, Hypereutectic )
I would go with over a .500 lift cam, roller rockers
Single Plane intake
Holley 750

multiple cam lobes were wiped which ruined all the bearings.

This is how I"m leaning towards the build, i'm going to use all the parts I have

2bolt block
reconditioned stock rods
9.7:1 forged pistons flat tops
2.02/1.6 valve 302 camelback heads
XE274H cam
150 shot if spray

now what kind of intake should I use since I want to spray the motor? I would think that a single plane would be best, but I'm not really sure if it matches that well with my rear gear....how do dual planes take to spray? Any reccomendations? I do have a 2800 stall(if what the PO says is true, still need to double check that)
