How reliable are the 2010+ Taurus SHOs?

Considering a new DD but not finding much really worth taking the plunge for. This car stands out but still seems to be fetching good money considering the age and mileage on some of them. How are these holding up? Any significant problems/maintenance required past the 50k, 75, or 100k marks? Trans and AWD known to hold up, even with a tune? Any electrical issues?

My friend has a 2011 and has had issues with the starting system (push button) and key fob.

It left him stranded a couple of times until he figured out that there was a plug in the center console that he could use in the event that there is a disruption with the system.

I work closely with this guy so I usually hear about any issues he has and that's pretty much the only one.

They're great cars and can be made quick on a small budget. With only a Livernois tune, they go high 12's, low 13's.

I know the guy that owns this car. It was tuned with only a few hundred miles and modified further not long after. The drivetrain is 100% stock and he's driven it daily, raced autocross and 1/4 mile for over 100,000 miles.

Yeah they seem to be holding their value incredibly well (then again I'm kind of cheap when buying a used car). That said, that's cheaper than most I've seen even with higher mileage. What were your impressions?

Nobody wants a boring drive to work, the grocery store or to go get the kids...that is why we have our Level 1 Performance Packages for the Taurus SHO and Lincoln MKS! Here are the links for the 2010-2012 and here is for the 13 and newer.

It's been my first ford product and I fricken love it. I sold my GTO and my DD in order to have a fun all season car that I could enjoy, yet haul the family around in comfortably.

I too had the key fob failure, where I could randomly not start the car. But I believe it was tied to the car battery dieing. Replaced the battery, took it to the dealer for a reflash, then unplugged the battery and let it sit for a few hours and haven't had a problem since. I even replaced the fob batteries too. The dealer was completely worthless on the issue.

AWD is the weak point. The PTU leaks, and eventually fails. Same as all AWD Taurus/Edge/Flex's.

I've had a LMS tune on mine for about 30k not a single issue. Runs strong, and will surprise the hell out of people.

I've been debating selling mine. 2010 every option except radar cruise, 76k. Wife wants an ESport to haul the kids around in.

I just stopped and checked one out. 2010 SHO with 120k on the clock and they still wanted 11g

It was a $50,000 car right??? I want one also, drove my neighbors lease SHO..... It needs a tune for sure and to me, it has way too many bells and whistles. It has an electric rear sunshade...to me, that is a retarded useless feature..

My sticker was 48k. Having young kids, I've used my rear shade often. Sun beating on them in a rear facing seat, put the shade up.

Not site what your looking to spend, but a coworker of mine has a 2011 triple black MKS Sport for sale. Clean car fax, new brake and tires. Car has 55k on it and is adult owned. This car is an eco boost as well. 55,000 miles and is Lincoln certified to 100k. He is looking for 18,500

Thanks but the Lincoln doesn't really do it for me. That's the ballpark I'm in but was hoping for 40k or less miles.
