How NOT to pull out a stuck truck

wow....So he fucked up the frame?
I used to have a white FX4 Ranger, identical to that one... there are two towhooks bolted to the front crossmember of the frame. I'm sure he ripped the bolts right through the frame and the bolts became grappling hooks and took the bumper with them. The frame is probably OK except the towhook holes are now a little bit bigger

Anyone remember the picture of the jeep that had a tow strap come thorough the window and THROUGH the head rest from doing the same thing?

Edit: Found said picture.

I was about to say...Is that your truck Mike? Can you amagine if someone was standing in front of that Army Jeep... What a dumb fuck!

He ripped the front frame horn off that the bumper mounts to. What an asshole.

I used to wheel with a guy that died like that. he was pulling someone out of a mud hole and their tow hook gave loose, the hook on the end of the strap went thru the back window and hit him in the head

Believe it or not, that is how you use a recovery strap. Problem is, he has a tow strap and tow straps don't stretch. Two 5,000lb vehicles at about 5mph will cause a 20' long by 2" wide recovery strap to grow by about 4'.

He was probably going 10mph by the time he reached the end of the strap and still had it to the floor. It's amazing the strap didn't break at the same time. He probably welded to the front crossmember and it tore out the wimpy crossmember. There is nothing strong in the front of that generation of dangerranger.

He could have gotten that truck out by rolling into the throttle gently as he reached the end of the strap.

At least the guy in the Dodge didn't attach it to the ball.

I watched a tow strap slice half way through a guy on a tractor pulling a jeep out of a mud hole...

I agree that is a tow strap... He should of had a "snatch strap" or recovery strap. (what ever you wish to call it).
