How can I tell if a rear end is straight?

I picked up a posi GN rear end from a guy who thought it was a 7.5. He said the car was wrecked, and one of the axles is sheared off and the brake backing plate is folded over the flange. It visually looks straight and I don't see any wobble in what's left of the axle. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to determine if the axle tubes are straight or a suggestion for a place that can check?

A long straight edge on the tubes after you wire wheel the scale off and check the welds for cracks, measure from mounting flange to mounting flange? Or take it to a chassis shop.
