How about them propane prices?..

Back in sept I prepaid $3000.00 for 5 months worth of heat. Eff propane. I want an outdoor woodburner. Should have bought it when I could last year.

I bought a massive pellet stove in the fall and that's mainly what I heat with. But I use propane for my stove, water heater, and dryer. I've used a total of about 160 gallons since september which isn't bad I suppose. I've used my furnace on the real cold nights to help the pellet stove, but it doesnt kick on much.

parker propane is $3.599 right now I had 325 gallons filled jan 8th for $2.459 i'm hoping I can stretch this tank out but with it being this cold and i'm heating a 3600 sq ft house. this is my 1st year on propane didn't know what to expect. should have pre-payed when it was $1.79

Even heating the well insulated garage with a portable propane heater is getting to be cold on the wallet. I purposely went with propane over kerosene due to gal/$

I just heard about this bs on Friday which got me thinking how it had been a while since I've had to fork over that chunk of change. I got home and checked my tank and it was showing 0%! Eff me! Furnace was still running though, so damn near close of business I call up the propane co. (in 10yrs I've never had to call for a delivery) they stated I would have a delivery that night. About an hour and a half later he shows up and puts a 100 gals in my 500 gal tank (says he figures I had about 15gals left).

All said and done with tax to hold me over this time; $391! Turns out I hadn't had a delivery since October and I'm heating about 1700sf of two story home.

I've pre-purchased in the past, I've payed the fee to lock it in, and It's never paid off....sure would have this year! I remember our 1st year here it was $1.02/gallon :-(

All I have to say is; shortage my ass!

Yea I had 225 gallons delivered at the middle of December it was 630.00 just had 225 gallons delivered yesterday 780.00

I pre-paid @ $1.49 per gallon for the season.

However, for the first time in 13 years, I may
come up short on my supply - I'm afraid to see
current costs. It pays to stick with a good company.

The shitty part about wood is, you gotta move that shit around so much. And its filled with dirt and bugs. I really thought about an outdoor boiler to keep shit outside, but then I thought about how much of a pain in the ass cutting, splitting and moving the wood would be. I have ten acres and probably enough wood to keep my house warm for the next 10 years, but shit thats hard labor. haha

I buy my propane from Garst, a good family business
to deal with. They brought me my 2nd load of my pre-paid
at $1.49 a gallon today. Current I think he said was $3.90 a gallon,
for others. Its good to have a 1,000 tank, now @ 55%

Roger thinks I’ll be in good shape until Spring, and
then if need be they can top off 100 or 200 gallons just to get
through Spring. He tells me that he can’t get the propane released
to them – yes we’re talking about fuel that has been purchased already!

So its not simply your local propane dealer, he too is being kept on a
very short supply.

i got a friend who sells me face cords for 60$ cut, split, and delivered. i order wood one time from him about Oct., and im good for the year. stack it all about 10feet from my front door, i walk out in my boots and grab pieces as i need it.

I think I really am going to look into one of those wood burners that are located away from the house and it pipes the heat in, anybody have any idea what they run? total cost. I see alot of them out near me but have to know if the cost is worth it, oh and I can get natural gas their is a line 1/8 mile away from house, here is the catch DTE wants 10k to run it down the street to in front of my house (and you have to use them cant hire your own contractor) and another 500 to run it and hook to my house, would split the cost with neighbors but because we are out in BFE only 2 other neighbor could hook up. still would be about 4k to run, does not seem worth it and cant understand why I have to pay them to hook up so i can pay them more to use they gas, sounds stupid to me.
