Hey jdustu you need this...

What exactly is practical about a 2wd 2-seater pickup truck? Especially in Michigan.

as practical as a bank teller with a license plate "BANKER".

C'mon, I've raced "fast" street cars, beat them, then pulled down the tailgate to show them 2 bails of hay in the bed. Tow the boat, haul the quad, out handled most cars of the time, and the supercharger whine blaring.

 I don't think Al will be back in this thread.

Probably too busy fixing his hair to look like this dude: :scared:

Back on topic...

According to someone who seems to know what he's talking about on another forum, they haven't found a real test mule for the kit yet. It runs 6 pounds of boost, so should be around a 90hp bump...

...and it's gonna cost 6k. Not that I was expecting it to be much less, but I'll have to wait for the blower fairy to show up before I can do that :D

thats because nobody has figured out how to safely tune these things. i have a friend with a blower for a 5.7 hemi sitting in his garage. after it blew his engine and he had it rebuilt, he decided not to mess with the blower anymore. jhilla knows much more about it than myself, as he was the one to install the blower (magnum). its been a while since ive done any reading on the matter, but i still dont believe anyone has come up with a stand alone for the hemi's. which is a shame, because people that actually want to go fast aren't going to even bother with a chrysler product.

I don't know what you're talking about....

There are a few supercharger setups for late model hemis out there. Shoot, the dealer I bought my truck from sells the kits from Saleen's new outfit now. Talk to Rick, I'm sure Livernois could help your buddy out :D

I'm no motor-ologist, but the 09 Rams have the second-gen hemi in them, with changes like vct and higher compression ratio....it's different, so it's taking longer. Magnuson is saying April now, we will see.

i still dont think they ever got the tuning correct on the first gen 5.7's. instead of having a full standalone like i have on my car, these kits usually come with shoddy piggybacks or some BS. i honestly wouldnt trust any of these off the shelf blower kits. im sure the hardware is more than capable of big numbers, but without full control of the fuel/timing/etc, its a crap shoot. not to mention a custom tune is always nice. but as i've said, i havnt looked into it in quite a while, so if someone has actually stepped up to the plate with a decent product, i am not aware.

The biggest issue with the stock first gen HEMIs (outside of the PCM) is the top ring land that's jammed WAY up to reduce emissions. When the motor was pulled apart, there were multiple ring land failures.

There have been great advances in the tuning solutions for the HEMI cars, but the computer is still not able to be fully-controlled. A stand-alone unit would be great, but I don't see it happening any time soon.
