Help valuing a vehicle to sell

So I'm looking to sell my vehicle, and I was wondering if I could get some feedback from you guys on my price for it. Off the bat, I was thinking $6900. KBB in good condition is $6,945, and fair is $6,465.

Here is the specs on it:
  • 2007 Mercury Mariner Premier
  • 3.0L V6 4WD
  • 143,000 Miles
  • Oil changed every 5,000 miles with Ford Synthetic Blend. Trans and rear diff recently changed by Rich at Detroit Gearbox
  • New Alternator, catalytic converter, rear shock absorbers, and control arms/ball joints
  • Newer tires, with plenty of tread left. TPMS system.
  • Touchscreen radio, with updated 2015 Garmin GPS maps and DVD player
  • Premium 7.1 speaker sound system
  • Sunroof
  • Running boards
  • Rear Parking Sensors
  • Side Airbags
  • Power, leather, heated seats
  • Roof Rack

Now the bad, the car has a dinged fender and drivers side door. Damage is not bad at all IMO. Easily fixed with junkyard parts.

The car drives great. Most of the miles are highway miles, as the previous owner lived in Birmingham (Dr), and was driving to Lansing for clinicals, and I drive from Chesterfield to the airport for work. I'm the second owner. I drive the car like a granny, doing 60 in the right lane while getting 25 (winter)-28 (summer) MPG on the expressway. Average about 20 in the city, and only see's above 3,000 RPM's maybe once or twice a month.

If the pricing seems to high, that is including a little extra for the radio. I'd be willing to drop it without the radio, and putting the factory radio in. Now for some pics....in the pub...:headbang:

Thanks guys, I appreciate it. Hoping to sell this pretty quick, and I'm looking to jump on a great deal on an Explorer. Wife will kill me if it takes more than a month to sell.

How does the trans shift? I seem to recall some of these to have some trans issues. I see you are proactive with the fluid change to that is good. As far as I know there are only a few big issues with these, the trans and the cats clogging and taking out a cylinder, but you also had the cat replaced so that is a good selling point as well. For the price it seems like a very nice vehicle. I dont think you will have a hard time selling it at that price. A guy at my work is looking for something like this, I will forward the info to him.

NADA clean retail is $7725. I would say somewhere around $7k with the damage.
You best bet would be to look at craigslist and ebay and see what others are actually selling for to get a better idea. Some vehicles go for less than nada and some a little more depending.

I just over heard my dealer buddies talking about the old body escapes, he said getting a decent 4x4 is almost impossible to find any more.

Plus its tax time... id reach for the stars. You can always come down in price.. it seams like in march you can add $750 on you car and no one cares.

Dealer trade in 4600 retail is around 6200. $5500 would sell. Anything above that I think would sit. 143k is a lot of miles to most people. Just my 2 cents! Good luck with the sale!

Trans shifts perfect. Only time it has a somewhat harsh shift, it when it sits for 2-3 days at the airport, in these blistering cold, less than 0° temps. After 2 miles, it shifts nice and smooth again..honestly, its such a smooth shift, I don't even feel it.

Dealer trade is always significantly lower than private party sale. The lowest I'm willing to go would be $6500 on this. $5500 is low balling, even for the milage compared to bluebook.

I agree on that one. If it was trashed and ran poorly $5500 would be fair but from what you describe, the current condition (other than the cosmetic dent) Id say stick closer to the KBB price.

You never really can tell until you try to market it & see what happens.

I would:

- Remove the premium stereo (replace with stock).
- Repair the body damage.
- Price @ $6,950 (to start).
- Make a really good ad with great photos.

A “by owner” craigslist search yielded:

2007 Mercury Mariner - 102,000 miles - $7,000

2007 Mercury Mariner – 100,000 miles - $6,999

2007 Mercury Mariner – 90,000 miles - $6,900

2007 Mercury Mariner (Hybrid) – 128,000 miles - $7,000

2007 Mercury Mariner – 112,000 miles - $5,000

Given the 143,000 miles on yours, you can see how you stack up against the competition.
It looks like your $6,900 price might be a little difficult to achieve, but it is still reasonable
and worth a try. You have nothing to lose & everything to gain.

You can always lower the price if it fails to sell.

I hope you get whatever you ask. Just my 2 cents as I said!

Damn.... what is wrong with motown these days...

It isnt worth shit, the color combo is all wrong and the things have tons of problems at 150k miles.......

Ill give you $2000 haha

I have an 2008 Mariner V6 4x4 that I have been trying to sell with 87,000 miles. Unfortunately it has a rebuilt title (will never buy another) and I got virtually no interest when I had it listed at $6800. There are several similar V6 4x4 listed with rebuilt for around the same price so I don't think its high. Just a reference for your car.

I think the dinged fender/ door will turn away some people even though its minor. $6500 is probably around what its worth IMO.
