In all seriousness.
My mom is 61 years old and looking to uhhhhhhh date??? Maybe thats not the right word? Meet someone??? Either way she is very lonely? She lost her husband(my father) 4 years ago and I think is finally ready to try and move on. She has been living in the house for the last 4 years basically. How do I go about helping her? I told her about E-harmony and those online dating things, but shes not too computer savvy and kind of old fashioned. I told her she needs to get out as much as she can. She needs to go to coffee shops and bookstores and maybe even bars???? She hasnt been single in over 30 ish years? She doesnt know what to do or say? I FEEL REALLY BAD FOR HER. What can I do to help her? Any advice would be great!

Church would be my suggestion. Folks tend to find religion in thier later years.

I second the church or community center type outings. It's a safe setting
to maybe meet someone in a similar situation.

Church or take her to Bingo at the local VFW Post. I know my parents church has a prime-timers thing. Monthy they get together and hang out and do something local.

Bowling leagues, church, or those community center things.. A ton of the older customers from work rave about the trips the go on. To the casino, niagra falls, chicago etc

Isee she is not a fan of Eharmony
My fincves Mom found someone on that site a great guy
She is 59, it really works!

I agree with the above Church events, you can find someone at those.
though that tends to be a MUCH older crowd, 61 is not very old...

A lot of people will knock the internet dating sites, but my mother (59) just got engaged to a guy she met on match.com - they've been dating about a year and a half now...he's normal and very nice...so, yeah - I wouldn't rule out a site like that. Just don't go to Yahoo Personals or (GOD FORBID) AdultFriendFinder

Yup. Nick knows all about the 'older' crowd  But my Grandma is in the same situation. A little older, but these are the things she does. Bowling alleys/bars are perfect. Good luck to hear.

HOnestly, if you can sit her down and help her with the eHarmony, match.com, etc... that's probably the best. She should catch on pretty quickly.
