HELP..... 66 mustang, front tires hit fenders

So I have a set of very nice rims and tires
I put on the OEm stamped Ford fenders on the '66 mustang and the front tires hit when you turn all the way.

Anyone run into this? I don't want to cut the rim. Should I just go with a shorter/skinnier tire in front?
 
you could weld in a turn stop so that you cant turn that far.....that is if you have enough turn radus and the tire just hits when you get far into the turn.

With the old fender, I put a brace on it and pushed out the fender about 2-3" to avoid contact. This is a brand new OEM fender, I'd prefer not to cut it or brace it like I did before.

I really want to use these rims as they look good. Would it look weird with a thinner sidewalled tire on the front? The rear tire is much wider than front already.
 
Seems like a pretty wide tire for that car, maybe you have the wrong offset on the rim? Depending how much its hitting and what the alignment is set at, you may be able to adjust camber/caster enough to clear.

Yep, the Eastwood roller is the way to go. It will GENTLY move the wheel lip so you can clear. This roller mounts onto your hub and mimics the space your wheel needs. It has an adjustable roller that will contact the fender (or quarter panel). You just roll it back and forth working it a little at a time until there is enough room. Sometimes you can get away with just rolling the inside lip upwards. It that case it won't even change the look of the fender from the outside. If you need to make a lot of space it can change the shape of the fender flare so there is more room. Either way - this is the right tool for the job! :)

What rim do you have? Seems a bit wide for the 66 wheelwell. But I have seen it done.

Check out vintage mustang forums and search on it in the tire/wheel section..
They had a awesome chart for all years..

Falcon64, how old was your paint when you rolled the lip over? I am considering the same, but have 15 yr old paint.....

I rolled mine while it was in bare metal prior to paint. I think it would depend on what kind of paint and how thick it is but I am not an expert on that so maybee as Smooth.
