Head-work, metro Detroit??

Cylinder head that is..... :gr_jest:

I'm pretty confident I have a blown head gasket on the '67 Lincoln Continental project I just picked up. I fired it up for the first time this past weekend and to my disappointment, it's puffing QUITE a bit of white smoke.

Since I'm pulling the heads off, I want to get them freshened up. Any recommendations for some mild head work (decking, valve job, etc.)? I'm not looking to do anything crazy and these are old-school iron heads as far as I know.

P.S. the engine's a 462 c.i. (7.6L)

From a ford site:

The 462 is an MEL (Mercury-Edsel-Lincoln) engine, not a "Ford" engine family. The MEL replaced the special Lincoln Y-block. The 462 was introduced in '66, if I remember correctly, and was dropped after '67.
 
I was thinking MEL. I know someone who has worked on those. PM me but he is not really local.
 
I have always used Warren Engine Exchange on Groesbeck just south of I-696.
I just paid $150 to have 2 heads reconditioned. (V6 12 valve iron heads) They did an awesome job and I have used them about 7 times so far with no complaints on cost or workmanship. They even helped me once free of charge to get a part fixed.
So A+ in my book there.
 
Heard alot of good things about Champion Machining in Warren (10 and Sherwood Area). I heard that they have tons of knowledge, new equipment, and work at very competitive prices. Never had work done there but, definately worth giving them a call.
