Looking for numbers on how fast people went with a stock block. Don't want dyno numbers just et's with approx weight.

I'm worried I'm playing with fire with this block.

i know people who have gone low 9s on them. usually they break right at the 10.20-9.90 mark though. rpms and detonation kills them.

this one broke at 10.90 too, no nos just motor. lol

I've been super carefull with the timing and havent rattled it. Thought I did first pass but it was so fat it fuel speckled the plug. Plugs look really good in the corners alil fat thru the middle rolls thru the traps at 6700...

How much rpm is too much lol?

depends on how you want it to hold together...keeping it under 6k rpm will help quite a bit but once you start getting high..just killing the life span

ive shifted my old 302 at 9000 before and it never broke block. but on the nos i kept it to 7500 or so. just dont rattle it and you will be good.

Its only got 22 degrees of lead with a 73n 63f 5.25 flowing thru a 73 (cheater plate an noids) I'd throw up a pic of the plugs but didnt take any yet. Timing mark is on the tip of the strap on #4 which is the hot clyinder on this motor.

Hope it lives lol, thanks for the info!

are you sure its a 73n and 63f? and not a 63n and 73f

Yup. started at 73n 63n with 6 flowing and 20 degrees, it was fat as fug. Dropped it to 5.5 went faster and still was fat; dropped it to 5 went faster plugs cleaned up, started to add timing half degree at a time until it got till 22 and showed a timing mark on the hot cylinder. put 1/4 back in on the fp and it didn't picked up or slow down so I stopped there.

Motor has a big pop up slug with 56 cc chamber is real timing sensitive. 1 degree added gave me a tenth and 3 mph

only reason i asked is the old nos tunes always had the plates with bigger fuel jet than nos and it was too fat. it sounded like that was one of the old tunes they recommended.

Yeah its the old tune flipped.

With the 82n pill I ran a 71f @ 5.5 thru the 73 with 18.5 degrees in it and it runs the same number, gains tinny in the 60'

Cam is killing it. Its 252/252 @ .050 .498/.498 on a 110 straight up. motor is 11.4 to 1; makes alot of cylinder pressure on the bottle which has me worried.

Didn't they change the nos tune recomendations to be squared now?

its close to being squared i think. i have my own tunes that seem to work pretty good with plates so that is what i always stick too. i just remember reading on the bullet they redid all the nos tunes for plate kits

Welp looks like I answered my own question. Blocks cracked thru all three center main webs on both sides from the center of the main stud holes up to the cam journals. Got lucky another pass and I'm sure it would have been donzo'.

Moving everything over to the other block and gunna tune it down a lil for No-et.
