I put in 3" 5 point harnesses in my car last winter. The shoulder harnesses are attached at two points for each seat to the rear cross bar of my rollbar. Corbeau seats and harnesses.....they are SFI 16.1 with cam lock hubs.

I don't even like Y harnesses.......they dig into your neck.

Not really sure if that helps at all.........let me know if you need some more info.

Shit, there's one more expense.

I have Kirkey's and everything is mounted so that the Y is nowhere near my neck. Unfortunately I have the cam locks too so I'm out even more money.

On a side note, I like the RJS ones. You can get them from a lot of different places and they're based out of Hazel Park. Usually significantly cheaper than some of the other brands, and you can get them recertified every two years instead of having to buy whole new ones.

Joe...yeah it does...but here is the question...I dont have TABS welded to rear bar and someone said to use the "wraparound kind"...
I "ASSUME"?? they wrap around the bar behind the seat...then bolt to floor where seat belt would go, then under the seat for the crotch strap...does that sound right?

Sounds right to me. What I've typically seen done under the seat is to weld a plate with a threaded hole to the floor bracing between the two front seat bolts. That's how the chassis guy did it on mine anyways when my 6pt. bar was installed.

I bought the crotch brace from UPR already. Just need to know WHAT harnesses to buy now.

Yes that sounds right. But (at least in my car) the OEM lap belt attachement is mounted to the OEM seat/power slider, so if you go to aftermarket seats and remove the heavy OEM power slider there is no provision to mount the new lap belts from the harness. So I drilled new holes in the floor and used huge ass washers on both sides of the floor pan. All hardware has to be grade 8 stuff too.

Also if you use the wrap around style for the shoulder straps they can "slide" along the bar and therefore will not pass tech.......that is why I welded the tabs on my bar. They do sell harness stops if you do decide to use the wrap around style. I attached a picture to show what I am talking about.

If you want I can take some pictures and email them to you. PM me your email addy if you want.
