Hard-starting problem

Picked up a 2000 Cavalier Z24 5-speed as a daily driver a couple weeks ago. Everything was good for a week or so. A couple times now the car has had a little difficulty starting. A couple times it started up but stumbled a little at first and after 5 seconds it was idling normally. Yesterday I went on a road trip to northern Michigan and twice throughout the day it would crank, fire once, then die. We had to give it a little throttle to get it going, to which it then idled rough for about 5 seconds and was normal again.

Other than that the car seems to run good as far as I can tell. It revs just fine and is responsive, although it seems to require a little more throttle in the lower (sub-2k) rpm range than I'm used to, but all the manual vehicles I've driven have been V6s and V8s so I'm kind of used to having more torque down low.

Plugs and wires were just done a couple days ago to make sure they weren't the problem since they're cheap & easy for these cars.

Any suggestions?

Tape a fuel pressure guage to the windshield. Keep an eye on it. GM pump connector fialure often starts out with this exact type of behavior.
