Well I went out and bought a guitar for Christmas back like 4 years ago (christmas gift from my parents) anyways.... I never played much in fact my dad kinda took it over lol. I'm planning on getting into it and I want to buy a nice guitar. Electric of course!!!:headbang: Just wondering what brand to get and i'm only looking to spend up to like $750 or so. And also I'd like to know if anyone on here teaches to. Let me know

On a real note I have 2 Epiphone Les Pauls and I love them. They aren't awesome from the factory for with about $80 of work from my guitar guy it'll play like a dream. Also there are a lot of really nice Fender Strats in that range. One important thing to remember is that when you buy a guitar new it's not set-up very well. There are tons of little adjustments. Not having a new guitar set up is like not getting a motor tuned.

Do you have an amp to play through? I'm big into guitar and have read up on lots of gear. What area are you in? I know a few people at West Side Guitar Centers and can have them take care of you when the time comes.

Yeah i think i still have my old amp somewhere. I dunno how much life it has left. That sounds good though. I'm moving to the Novi area in about 2 weeks. I will definately let you know when I'm ready to buy. I was looking at Ibanez and Gibson. Gibson's a little expensive though. I'm not a huge Fender fan though.

Go with an Epiphone. They are the same wood as Gibsons but with cheaper hardware. I have two that I've put new tuners, pickups, and bone nuts (where the string passes through near the head) and they play better than my friends' Gibsons. I actually have a nice Ibanez that I'm putting up for sale soon but it has a floating tremolo (not something you want on a first guitar).
Pick one of these, put about $120 into it and you'll have a great guitar.

To be honest, unless you are looking for something super-custom there's nowhere that will beat Guitar Center's prices. As far as repair I'll only take my guitar to one guy because he's taken care of me and my friends very well. He's a good guy and does spectacular work.

Been a while for me too but my collection is.
Ibenez 770 electric
Kramer 1/2 flying V custom
Ovation electric/acoustic
Crate full stack amp with 8-12" speakers
drum machine, amp peddles, 6 track recording equipment.
One day I'll get back into it.

I'm left handed and would like to learn....anybody help me in that department?

Would just love to learn how to play.

Easiest way to learn is to start playing songs right away. Go on amazon.com (or go to guitar center/borders) and pick up a book. There are many with lots of songs that are 3 chords (search for 3 chord songs). That way you can play along with something you know and learn how to make chord changes. Then you can advance from there with more advanced books. You'll have to learn to transpose for being a southpaw. There are a few books for lefties.

Also, try youtube. There are tons of videos of people playing songs and giving lessons.
