GTR goes mid 9's @ 150+

Nicely done. Pretty amazing times but it looks like some real resources where thrown at it. Impressive none the less.

I hear you. And after seeing the video of the 2011 5.0 Mustang running 8's it's kinda anti-climatic. But I do love seeing things go fast so it's still cool!
 
Eh, it doesn't even look like 1k on the dyno. I think it's a bit of marketing foo. There isn't much to the car though, better cold side plumbing, bigger intercoolers, exhaust, fueling, etc. However, there is also some left there. The launch is shitty and shift timing is shitty. Someone give him some damn slicks or drag radials too. I'm pretty surprised they weren't picking up pieces of his trans with that wheel hop.

That's pretty much the same 60' as mine with just downpipes, injectors, wastegates and tune and I only was mid 10's at 135'sh on a good day. One thing also is the gearing on the car sucks as you get to the top end, the cars seem to fall flat regardless of power behind them. DBK's GT would walk away from that car all the way to 200 once DBK got hooked up enough.
 
All very true. But, the main difference is they're running those numbers on 6 cylinders, not 8. I guess the thing that really got me was the amount of money people have to throw around....even when times are supposed to be tough.

They are no where near as expensive as people seem to think they are.
 
John Shepard builds the trans.

The post on NAGTROC about the car said it's a stock trans. It's really hard to build the trans better. Very few of the high HP GT-R's have even done much, most just a different gearset.
