GT40P heads Now What Headers ?

I have a set of MAC equal lenths on the car right now will those work, if not could they be modified to work ?

if they fit let me know, i have been selling headers for pheads for a long time and those are the only 2 that seem to fit without extensive modifcations

I ran those headers with the p heads last year, they work great! Lots of room for the plugs.

How do the "p" heads flow compared to gt-40? are they the same only with a 90 degree spark plug mount?

the aftermarket gt40 heads are better then p heads, p heads were stock exploder and lighting IIRC, they are ok, but the cheapest aftermarket stuff outperforms them. However they are a good upgrade from other production head past 1970.

Oh and yes, p heads make header fitment a bitch

the 93-95 Lighting had GT 40 heads, the P head didn't show up until '97

Mac long tubes fit just fine. No spark plug interference here...

The FRPP P50 shorties are great fit and stainless. MAC longtubes work. BBK longtubes work ( even the 1 3/4"). Those old Dynomax 1.5" 3/4 length headers are the best fit by far but require a custom H or downpipes. Flowtech (or Summit...same header but cheaper) longtubes work well but you have to mod the #4 at the head. Very easy fix since they're slip fits). Since those are $80, even after the mod and an H pipe you're at about the list price of the FRPP shorties. Better have a mini starter tho cuz they'll cook the older big a$$ one.

Trying to remember if BBK unequals work but it's been a long time since I did the P head stuff (my writeup is still up at www.stangpro.com )
