GT40 / Explorer Parts for 302 SBF

I'm looking into doing the GT40 upper / lower intake and GT40 heads on my stang.

I've been doing a lot of research and I have concerns about the EGR and ACT on the GT40 intake, but I can't find specific info on what to do about it. I've read you need to drill a hole for the ACT or put the ACT in the intake tube right before the throttle body.

"The upper has alot of vacuum tubes coming from the under side of it, I had all except 3 welded shut, little one for fuel regulator, and 2 bigger ones for PCV and brake Vacuum."

I know that GT40P heads require GT40P headers.

Anyone have any experience installing these parts on a 5.0 mustang?

Also what kind of power can I look forward to after doing GT40 Heads and Intake.

i dont' know about power but i did this swap on my 5.0. i did drill and tap a hole in the #5 intake runner, just like stock, for the ACT sensor. plenty of material there. i do not have egr, however i had to install a regular egr spacer to make the throttle cables clear the fuel rails. made a block-off plate out of GM starter shims to plug the vacuum hole. most of the vacuum tubes underneath the upper manifold i was able to extract with vice grips, then tap the holes for pipe thread plugs or fittings. the two above the driver's side valve cover became the PCV lines.

my heads are factory with minor port work so i do not know about headers for yours.

i can tell you it was an extremely effective swap, i used the 65mm exploder tb, just had to transfer the linkage plate and splice 3 wires for the TPS. got a 65mm egr spacer on ebay for 40 bucks.

hope this helps

the Ford Motorsport shorties are probably the best fit/quality. Make sure you get the P50 p/n as these are the P spec shorties.

Standard MAC longtubes will clear. Standard BBK longtubes will clear IIRC. I had Dynomax 3/4 length headers on the car originally and those are by FAR the best clearance for plugs but require a custom H or downpipes and are only 1.5" primaries. Flowtech or Summit (same thing) longtubes clear but require a mod to one of the primaries.

I've got an article up on StangPRO for modding the Summit header too.
