gopro video edit help?

trying to edit down some video on the gopro, using the gopro edit software but every time i import a video to cut it down it says file corrupt or unable to use...what would cause this? is there another editing software i could use that would be easier? havent played around with any of this before figured id give it a try see if i can make somethin decent

If you are on Windows, Movie Maker (I think that comes built in for free) or Sony Vegas are your answers. For a Mac, just use iMovie

I use Microsft movie maker for quick and easy stuff. But for a better look I downloaded the Micrsoft Essentials. Not sure if it's still free, but I like the functions it offers. Not sure if it would worth spending a lot of money on though. I also have the Divx movie Author bundle. Thats a great set of options for making High Def stuff, Way more than I need so I dont use it much anymore.
