Anybody know anything about these cameras. Pro or Con I'am thinking about getting myself one for christmas. I know you can mount these on any moving object, race car etc. I assume you can use as a hand held movie camera, and can you take still and action shots like a regular camera.
Any info would be helpful.

Thanks

They're pretty nifty video cameras IMHO. I picked up the "Motorsports" version not too long ago - haven't had a chance to really use it too much, but it's a decent purchase if you can find it (the Motorsports kit - MSRP of $299) for under $225.

BTW - Have you visited their website ( www.goprocamera.com ) already ? Lots of people are posting their track footage online over on Youtube and the like. A few people have posted online reviews of the GoPro on there too (search on Youtube, especially the one British guy's review - pretty helpful review).

we used one on my buddy jeff's (detroitmuscle) car at the last no et.. they work awesome. deff a good investment

A guy had one in his Mustang at a MIS driving school, he even showed us what it looked like from inside when you spin out in the grass. A very cool teaching tool.
If you play with the location of the camera you might be able to get your sponsors logo in the foreground.

They are cool for mounting on anything (I use it primarily for mountain biking, on my helmet) but dont think youll use it as a normal handheld camera. There is no screen to see what your shooting and the audio is not great.

GoPro told me that they have something in the works for a remote wrist mounted LCD to be able to view whats being shot but wouldnt give any time frame. I sell them to a lot of people and all love them but they know their intended use. The video quality is great.
