Looking at purchasing this vehicle but the dealer informs me that I need to sign a disclosure that the Parallel Park Assist is not working (to be fixed in release soon).

It is on a GMRVDC letterhead though which is for manufacturer buybacks.

If it is a buyback I don't want it.

I don't see anything about it being a buy back in the GM system. It says:

Complaint: 0590 - Features/Controls/Displays - Other issues

auto park assist where car parks for you is "all messed up" per salesman "it's a disaster"
Cause: 6579 - Module/Component - Shorted

park assist modules are not functioning at all due to short in power systems
Correction:

replaced front/rear park assist module and program

That was at 664 miles. Looks like it was sold November 25 and in for that on December 10. So, something clearly happened there. Maybe the dealer just took care of them rather than it being a Lemon Law kind of deal.

They also replaced the windshield due to some sort of HUD issue.

And then there is this also at the same time:
Complaint: 0021 - No Customer Complaint - Maintenance

CUSTOMER SATISFACTION VEHICLE PAYMENT EXPENSE

I've never seen that, not sure what that exactly means but may be the evidence of the car being turned back in by the owner? Not sure. Edit: I think myabe it means they reimbursed the customer for a payment? I see the car has 1800 miles now so it obviously didn't get turned back in at the time of these services.

It got a new cluster at the same time as this stuff too.

Given that it doesn't appear to be branded as a lemon I guess it is up to you to determine if the price they are selling it for is worth the craziness going on there.

Edit: There is some lag in the system so if it recently got turned in it is possible it just isn't showing up. Could be a buy back that would show up in CarFax, etc once it has had time to get there.

I called GM RVDC and they were pretty helpful. The car was exchanged which is different from a buyback. The only state that requires an exchange to be noted on the title (per them) is Connecticut. So technically it would be a clear title (which, if it is just a park assist issue is correct)

I would imagine the vehicle payment expense is the exchange.

I'm not sure the discount (10%) is great enough to offset this quagmire.

Yeah, with no fix in place I don't think the price on it is worth the headache either. That's a ton of money still for a car with unresolved issues.

If the car did get turned back in at 664 miles, the dealer guys have been beating on it for the last 1200 miles too. I don't know that to be the case but if it is that's another reason to pass.

It was turned in with a bit over 1800 on it. So it looks like its been sitting since.

The exchange was for another '16 CTS V but with the Saffron accents the customer originally wanted.

Thanks for the help, Brad.

I appreciate it! I'm going to sleep on it and see what comes to be in the am :)

I just noticed you have a '11 V. How do you like it?

I think they'd be willing to get rid of that car for a deep discount. 10% doesn't seem worth it, but you can probably get them to knock it down much more given its history.

Would this car maintain its complete factory warranty
including coverage for this issue & any related?

This sure is sounding like a "pass on it" kind of car/deal.
But, to each his own.

Full warranty applies.

Dealer promises everything will return clear.

Either way it's a bit of coin even for potential issues. 15-20% would be more appealing :)

I love my '11 V. The old Vs aren't perfect. The infotainment stuff kind of sucks and there is a complete lack of console and glove box storage. Those are pretty minor complaints to me though. Not planning on selling that car any time soon. The V3 is certainly a lot nicer but the price goes with it.

On the discount on that car, it seems like how low they would go would depend on how willing they are to sit on it until a fix is available for its issue. If they want to get rid of it I'm sure they would deal more. If they are willing to let it sit around until the fix is available I'm sure at that point they won't have much trouble getting what they are currently asking.

The disclosure that must be signed by the purchaser stating the vehicle was repurchased or exchanged is going to be a red flag to anyone. It looks like it is required if the issue was fixed or not.

Another downside is the vehicle doesn't look like it is CPO (I asked specifically why) - which would extend the bumper to bumper warranty to 7 years/70,000. The standard warranty is effective, though.

They aren't going to move on the price so it looks like a pass. Considering most dealers would give supplier discount the real "savings" is only about 5%.

I need to get a GM Employee Pricing code!

Yeah, that car is basically at what employee price on a new one would be. They haven't let us give out employee price to non family in over a year though now. I don't see them doing it any time real soon either with some of the other employee vehicle program cuts that have been made recently.

Does a car with an unresolved issue qualify for a CPO warranty? Maybe they can't give that warranty with the issue it has?

Correct. This vehicle does not qualify for CPO because of the exchange. So its actually worse - a used car without the extended CPO warranty..

good friend runs the number one caddy dealer in the nation and has several Vs in stock send me a PM with what you want and ill se what he can do
