probably around 5,000 studs combined just in this picture :1syellow1Re-Jetted my carb and tomorrow Re-shimming the valves on my RMZ and i'll be ready for the ice! I know there's a lot of snowmobilers here, anyone else stud up their dirtbikes for some round-e-round fun on the ice?

I take my raptor 700 out on st clair. that's about it.. Where do they do roundy round racing around here? I may be interested in trying it out if they have quad classes...

I never took my '99 YZ125, '01 YZ250, or '02 RM125 to the ice but I did get to ride a buddies mid 90's CR250 (pre-aluminum frame) on the ice when I was probably 20. Was a fucking blast! It's amazing how much traction you actually get. I thought it would be like riding the dunes but it was insane. I was pulling wheelies threw 4th.

I haven't studded my tires but I did get the Suzuki out a few days back when we had a little snow. Landed on my side once actually, it gets away from you so easy in the snow.

putting them on that R6 lol... just kidding..
no, but one of my sisters ex BF studded up his CBR600 and had it out on cass lake one winter, buck twenty on the ice is sketchy as hell

crescent lake has a lot of people out on it, we make our own circle on cass and just mess around having fun
Where can I get those Ice Screws/Studs?

I want to put the on my old Honda Fourtrax.
Magics motorsports carries them, most dirtbike/atv places have them, or order them from chapparell
they look like sheet metal screws
"kold kutters" similar, but the heads are sharp

yea my first time on the ice on a bike i rode just like a bike on ice lol. but you get used to grabbing a handful of front brake and it actually stops, it's a lot of fun, they ride like they're on rails!
they run on the lake about 1/2 mile from CARS
yea that's crescent lake, a lot of guys are out there every weekend when it freezes

Do you have to take the tires off the wheels or can I just screw away into the lugs?

depends on how serious you want to get. for the fronts it's not a huge deal, you can run a smaller stud (they range from 3/8 to 1 1/2 inch lengths) i think i used a bag of 1/2" studs for my front, but for the rear, we use 1" or 1 1/4" 0studs and line the inside of the tire with either an old cut up street bike tire, or an old fire hose, or whatever we find  The smaller studs you can screw right into the lug and not worry about it going into your tube. but with more power and the harder you ride, it will either fling the studs out of some of the lugs, or tear the lugs right off. the reason for a longer stud with a liner is the stud goes all the way through the tire and into the liner and therefore has a better grip in the tire and is not likely to fly out at all :1syellow1

These would be for a Basic 4x4 Honda 350 Fourtrax for Ice fishing. I dont want to have to take the tires off or worry about leaks.
