FWD half-shaft/prop shaft/driveshaft Questions

I figured I could start a thread asking about FWD repairs and then next time I search I'll find this info :)

So I have a saturn, L100...and I replaced the bering and reloaded the boots with grease...noise is still there, sounds like the boot rubbing but you can feel it in the wheel.

What are the guidelines for replacing half-shafts? I read that its best to replace them if there is any damage to the boot or if the clamps were damaged, allowing stuff in the boot, its best to replace.

So am I over thinking this? Should I check some thing else? it is not bad at slow speeds, going stright, but you turn left and its there.

I think I know what to do, replace, but want a second oponion b4 I spend more money on this DD :(
thanks in advance.

does this have the hanger bearing on the passenger side halfshaft? I have started to see a lot of FWD cars with bearing noise, and it is from that bearing

did you torque the axle nuts to spec? are these the bearing that need to be pressed in?

I can say that if the noise is happening on a left turn, odds are it is coming from the right side

No, they are the same both sides.

I seated the saft into the hub, 1/2 or so more turn and put the castle nut/pin in.

I am starting to wonder if I took the wrong side apart, whould a bad bering on the right make a rubbing sound on the left? The sound is coming from the driver's side, had the car up and running and when turning w/o weight the car would make a sound like the boot is rubbing on itself.

report:
After much reading any time the clamp is missing or damaged when dealing with front half shafts they should be replaced.

replaced the front half-shaft (extremly cheap-thanks Richards) and I still had some sound during turning. So I had to go retard and make sure all the fluid levels were good and what do you know but the powersteering is LOW. Added some and the sound is gone and the car rides great, well at least on the side I replaced everything.
