Fuel pressure question

95 crown Victoria 4.6 what should the fuel pressure be running and not running key on?currently it's at 34 key on then jumps to 40 psi when you start it then drops down to 30 at idle.

Sounds like it's working ok. vacuum is low at start up and the regulator is giving you Full fuel pressure then as the vacuum rises it's pulling it back out. 39-40 is stock vacuum off pressure and if I remember right the stock regulators pull off almost 10psi.
Is there a drivability problem?

The minute you touch the gas it wants to stall unless you feather it down,no check engine light on and it stalls after first start right away

Hmmm A bad M.A.F will do something similar.. If it doesn’t see a flow change but it’s getting a signal from the TPS that its changing.. That should flag a low voltage code for the M.A.F Do you have access to a scan tool? You need to get a look inside to see what the processor is seeing..
